Event Overview

Join the largest annual global hackathon on October 3-4, 2026.

Space Apps is a 48 hours global hackathon, engaging thousands of problem solvers each year across the globe. The event embraces collaborative problem solving with a goal of producing relevant open-source solutions to address global needs applicable to both life on Earth and life in space.

The pre-hackathon bootcamps will be held at our official Outpost locations.

Schedule

Hackathon Day 1 (October 3)

Hacker Orientation

Check in, grab dinner, set up required software accounts, learn about the challenges, hear from sponsors and mentors, form teams, and get ready for a weekend of hacking.

Morning (09:00)

Return to the hackathon space for breakfast and hackathon kickoff, then get hacking! Lunch and dinner will also be served.

All Day

Organizers and volunteers on hand. Technology and science mentors available in person and virtually to float between teams.

Hackathon Day 2 (October 4)

Morning

Breakfast and wrap up projects. Project submission at noon, followed by lunch.

Afternoon

Team demos (globally live-streamed, open for friends and family). Sponsor awards and judges announce the hackathon winners.

Note: Participants under the age of 18 require adult supervision for the entirety of the hackathon.
