Junior Summer School 2025 - Parent Guide

Program Overview

The Junior Summer School 2025 is a two-week technology program designed specifically for teenagers aged 15-18. Our curriculum focuses on digital literacy, online safety, and creative technology skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Dates: July 7 - July 21, 2025
Location: Private Campus, Craiova
Hours: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday

What Your Teen Will Learn

Digital Literacy & Online Safety

  • Introduction to Unix/Linux command line basics through games and interactive activities
  • Social media privacy, security settings, and recognizing online risks
  • Understanding AI technologies, their benefits and potential concerns
  • Cyber hygiene practices including password security and phishing awareness

Creative Technology

  • Open-source multimedia tools for content creation
  • Complete podcast production process (planning, recording, editing, publishing)
  • Digital storytelling techniques
  • Collaborative technology projects

Daily Schedule

  • 8:30 - 9:00 AM: Drop-off and morning social time
  • 9:00 - 10:30 AM: Morning learning session
  • 10:30 - 10:45 AM: Break
  • 10:45 - 12:15 PM: Hands-on workshop
  • 12:15 - 1:00 PM: Lunch (provided)
  • 1:00 - 2:30 PM: Afternoon learning session
  • 2:30 - 2:45 PM: Break
  • 2:45 - 3:45 PM: Project work time
  • 3:45 - 4:00 PM: Daily wrap-up
  • 4:00 - 4:30 PM: Pick-up and optional social time

Staff & Supervision

All instructors are experienced educators with expertise in technology and working with teenagers. Our staff-to-student ratio is 1:10, ensuring personalized attention and proper supervision. All staff members have undergone background checks and safety training.

Safety Protocols

  • Campus is secured with controlled access points
  • All participants must be signed in and out each day
  • Internet access is monitored and filtered for age-appropriate content
  • Emergency procedures are in place and regularly practiced
  • First aid personnel available on-site at all times

Communication

Parents will receive: - Pre-program orientation materials one week before start date - Daily update emails with highlights and upcoming activities - Access to a secure photo-sharing platform to see activities in progress - Staff contact information for any questions or concerns - Invitation to the final project showcase on July 21st

Is prior technology experience required?

No, the program is designed for beginners with no previous technical experience needed.

How are participants grouped?

Students are placed in small teams of 5-6 with peers of similar age. These teams collaborate on projects while receiving individualized instruction.

What if my teen needs to miss a day?

Please notify us in advance. We’ll provide materials to help them catch up, and staff will assist them upon return.

Is there a dress code?

Comfortable, casual clothing suitable for a classroom environment. We recommend layers as indoor temperatures may vary.

Can parents visit during the program?

We have a designated visitor day midway through the program (July 14th), and all parents are invited to the final showcase on July 21st.

What COVID-19 protocols are in place?

We follow current health authority guidelines and will provide specific protocols closer to the program date.
